SOBERING VOICES

"...You are all sons of light and sons of day. We are not of night nor of darkness; so then let us not sleep as others do, but let us be alert and sober. For those who sleep do their sleeping at night, and those who get drunk get drunk at night" (1 Th 5:5-7, NASB).

More than usual have written in response to Kings: Children and Sons, Pub. #00.124. Without exception, they have all been very supportive of that message. Let us take a few moments and hear some of their sobering voices. We cannot help from noting their great concern:

"May I commend you for the clarity and courage in which you are writing.

We were very aware of the moment of silence (in the meetings wherein we were together earlier this year) that was soon brought down to the clamor of the carnal man. We left the meeting refreshed by that which was of the Spirit and disturbed by the rest.

As much as I would desire a gathering to be fully 'one in the spirit' -- I also realize that the sons of God are more than just meetings. Our walk and talk -- in all the affairs of our lives -- should manifest the Christ. We appreciate you." --B.J.S.

"Please know how timely and appreciated your last Pathfinder (Part 2) was. It was about time somebody acted like a Son and reproved some of the things that are in our midst. I stopped going anywhere because it got to be a waste of time and money. If nobody else got the message in your book, I certainly did, and thank you so very, very much!

"The Spirit spoke to me at the beginning of this year and said, 'This is the year of The Lord. It is Him only, not Moses, nor Elijah, neither the law nor the prophets (so called), not man -- but Christ.'

"And please, please lay your heart and soul out on the paper in writing as in this latest booklet. I've waited so long to see if anybody noticed or knew the difference and wondered if anybody had the intestinal fortitude (guts) to say anything, and more important, do something about it. God's business is too important to be playing games with and acting foolishly wasting valuable time on the foolishness of performance of the flesh to be seen and hear and try to out do or out perform somebody else. Even sinners know the difference.

"As we know knowledge only puffs up, as when you're bitten by a serpent, you swell up, but revelation by the Holy spirit humbles you, and will minister to the spirit and bring strength and growth to the inner man. I've had enough of Polly Parrots, emulators, and imitators. Give me Jesus -- not Barabbas.

"God bless you! Keep the good word coming." --D.S.

"...I especially witnessed to the one of February (Part 2). For about three years I have noticed the gatherings are drunkenness, but not on New wine. The focus is not on the Lord; but they were rejoicing that they were all together again, and wanted to see who had the newest doctrine. How long will the Lord let us partake at the same table where there are spots in our feast? I find these groups are more attracted to each other than the Lord. Keep up the good work. You have discerned a real problem in the true church." --M.F.

"I so appreciated your latest Pathfinder. I visited a church a short while ago and the music was so loud and the people were unruly, and I thought, 'How can you enter the Holy of Holies like this?' I would fall on my face and be awe stricken. I would not be able to speak.

"Needless to say, I haven't been back. I at first thought it was my age (72); but I know now it's not. In our group we are all willing to sit quietly and wait on the Lord. We only want His Word. We are almost like the Quakers; and that's all right too.

"Please Keep The Pathfinder coming. It is one truth I can depend on." --M.E.W.

"...I truly appreciated your last paper (#00.124). It's as I've felt about the condition of the church -- the called out ones. I feel we need to be still and know that He is God. As you said, it seems impossible to still the clamor inside my head. I desire to be still yet it seems my natural mind is screaming all the time, and wandering all over the place. I certainly see no great hunger for the reality of our Awesome, Almighty God and Savior in very many. All seem to settle for good works and good programs.

"...Everyone wants to only talk about themselves and whatever is happening in their lives (they may talk about the Lord, but it is so often in reference to themselves).

"...What you wrote in your last paper reveals what is really happening in His Body. I can see how He is shaking our heavens and earth even though no one can see. All goes on as it has for eons, yet within my being there's tremendous shaking. He IS, and here I stand, though the world dissolves, He IS the Savior, Creator, sustenance. I can do nothing but stand amid the inner turmoil." --D.S.

And one from a dear sister who sums it up very well:

"Just wanted to let you know that I'm enjoying your new series. Part 2 sounds like you've attended some gatherings like I experienced last fall. I must say, it made me leery of attending anymore such gatherings. I love the fellowship of the brethren and often long for it; but I'm not interested in a party. And if I wanted to be entertained, I wouldn't have to travel so far to get it. There's a church on every corner here just waiting to entertain me.

"In the first two days of the three days of meetings the message had been that of correction to the people, admonishing them to get control of themselves and hear the Word. On the third day, Heavenly Father gave me a simple message for the people which was "Father wants you to quiet your minds. He is saying ' Lay your head upon my breast and listen as I whisper softly in your ear.'"

"All was quiet for about two minutes then a major instigator got up and repeatedly said 'I must obey the Lord. I was invited. I must obey the Lord.' And the shouting began again. One woman left the assembly in tears! I found her in the restroom still crying. We talked for a while, and she left with the understanding that though others had not a clue what was going on, she had not missed the Lord.

"I have said, and continue to think, that since January of 2000 all the nuts are coming out of the wood work. I have been amazed at what is taking place in the fellowships. It is as though many have suddenly gone backwards! It brings to mind the dream that I had where we were crossing a swift stream and people were being swept away and drowning -- people were jumping out of the vehicles into the water out of fear. I believe many of these people in our gatherings are afraid that they made the wrong decision when they left the ranks of "old time religion", and are jumping back in and being swept away by it. However, I could be wrong." --R.E.

There are more; but we will share this last one. Just prior to taking this article to the printers, the following letter came:

"Your current edition of the PATHFINDER was in today's mail, and its message was in stark contrast to the junk mail which daily clods the 6" square door with worldly, wordy junk mail!

"Again, you have explained to readers what seems so obvious to those with whom the Spirit resides and speaks! I can not, therefore, refrain from dropping a note to concur with what you have so well explained: namely, the essential residence of the Spirit of God within believers!

"I can only trust that your verification of that fact will erase any doubts in the multitude of skeptics who still (at this late date apparently think that screaming, clapping, strutting across stages, falling when there is a catcher handy, etc. etc.) insures a "State of being filled", instead of being seen by the Almighty as a living residence for His Spirit.

"Next week my little booklet comes off the local press in response to the Spirit's command to me during my December hospitalization while unconscious. It is just my testimony of another amazing way whereby the Lord seems to get across to me what I have previously missed in His Word! Just another "mystery" unsealed for me to "go & tell". Strangely (?) enough it further augments the message you convey in this issue! Since my Earthly is growing short these days, just perhaps the Spirit is whispering to me that the BODY's time is also short till the Trump sounds!

"I'll be sending you a first copy of my 'THE MYSTERY OF THE MANGER', received in bed with overhead bottles dripping!

And I thank you dear ones for the words of encouragement. It appears that the same is going on everywhere -- there are those who come to gatherings for a party while the serious-minded come for strength, as mentioned in that particular article⁽¹⁾. Moreover, correction is now coming from the throne, and one common message is being heard -- "Silence heavens, silence earth! Shhhhhhh! Hush! Be still!"

And with that -- this pen will be silent for the space of half an hour. If you hear the same word, please do the same and listen and hear and do what the Spirit is saying...
