THE SONG
OF THE LORD
#149.02
"And they sing the song of Moses the
servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvelous are Thy works, Lord
God Almighty; just and true are Thy ways, Thou King of saints" (Rev 15:3).
In times gone by, before Christ, the people sang
the song of Moses (Ex 15:1-2), and afterwards their song was that of the Lamb. Both the
song of Moses (deliverance from the world), and the song of the Lamb (initial salvation),
is necessary and tremendous; but I tell you, now is the time for us to sing the Song of
the Lord.
You see, when God created man, He put tabrets and
pipes within him: "Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone
was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the
jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold; the workmanship of thy tabrets
and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in
the day that thou wast created" (Ezk 28:13). Why were we created with tabrets
and pipes? So we would be able to speak, sing and praise God. But not only sing the songs
that people write, but when the time came we could sing the Song of the Lord: but we are
speaking of a spiritual song and not natural.
Man was born with a great musical instrument --
his voice. He uses his voice in words and song to express either himself or the Lord.
Communication is like music. A musical performance is often called re-creative, because it
comes from a previous created work of art written down by the composer -- whether from man
or God. Thus, a musical performance is a partnership between composer and performer. He
formed us with vocal cords, and a windpipe. The upper part of the windpipe contains
the vocal cords. Ah, yes the windpipe. Do you know what goes through that pipe? -- the
wind, the air. Spiritually speaking, it is the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:1-4, John 3:8 ). God in
the beginning gave us the tabrets and the pipes, and some time afterwards the Word --
Jesus. These three together, the Word, the Spirit, and the pipes, become a strong,
forceful power. "...A threefold cord," as Solomon wrote, " is
not quickly broken" (Eccl 4:12).
The scriptures tell us so much about this
beautiful song. We read that we will sing a new song numerous times throughout the Bible.
Yet most of the songs are only praises of adoration unto God and Jesus. There is a
difference between just singing and praising God and the Song of the Lord. When we are
praising God we are worshiping Him. But when we are singing the Song of the Lord we are
revealing Jesus Christ. The following scriptures are examples of giving Him high praise,
which are wonderful: but they are not necessarily the Song of the Lord. "Sing
unto Him a new song; play skillfully with aloud noise" (Ps 33:2-3). "And
He hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear,
and shall trust in the Lord" (Ps 40:3). "O sing unto the Lord a new
song: sing unto the Lord all the earth" (Ps 96:1). "A Psalm, O sing
unto the Lord a new song; for He hath done marvelous things: His right hand, and His holy
arm, hath gotten Him the victory" (Ps 98:1). "I will sing a new song
unto thee, O God: upon a psaltery and an instrument of ten strings will I sing praises
unto thee" (Ps 144:9). "Praise ye the Lord. Sing unto the Lord a new
song, and His praise in the congregation of saints" (Ps 149:1). "Sing
unto the Lord a new song, and His praise from the end of the earth, ye that go down to the
sea, and all that is therein; the isles, and the inhabitants thereof" (Isa
42:10). All this verses of new songs speak of the saints, and even the rest of the world,
singing praises unto God for the things He has done; but there is a NEW SONG that only a
few will sing: "... They sung a NEW SONG, saying, Thou art worthy to take
the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and redeemed us to God by
thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation" (Rev 5:9).
"And they sing a NEW SONG before the throne, and the four beasts, and the
elders: and no man could learn that song but the hundred and forty and four thousand,
which were redeemed from the earth" (Rev 14:3).
Have you ever meditated about this new song? What
are the words? What is the melody? What is it all about? The NEW SONG is
a song not sung before, and then only the hundred and forty four thousand, which were
redeemed from the earth can learn the song.
Brethren, this is not a song that can be written
on paper or set to natural music, and the 144,000 is not a number of people, like most
everybody thinks. This is the quality in a people. For instance:
One Hundred signifies --
fullness, children of promise, Sons of God. Here are some of the scriptures that deal with
fullness and Sons of God. "And of His fullness have all we received, and grace
for grace" (John 1:16). "But when the fullness of the time was come,
God sent forth His Son, made of a woman, made under the law, To redeem them that were
under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. And because ye are sons, God
hath sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. Wherefore
thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ"
(Gal 4:4-7). And Abraham was a hundred years old when Isaac was born (Gen 21:5).
Forty is the number for being tested,
tried, and proven. When we received the baptism of the Holy Spirit with fire (Mat
3:11) our testing by fire started. "That the trial of your faith, being much more
precious then of gold that perisheth, through it be tried with fire, might be found unto
praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ" (1 Pet 1:7).
"Beloved think it not strange concerning the fiery trail which is to try you, as
through some strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of
Christ's sufferings; that when His glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with
exceeding joy" (1 Ptr 4:12-13). "Blessed is the man that endureth
temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath
promised to them that love Him" (James 1:12). "I counsel thee to buy of
me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich: and white raiment, that thou mayest
be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with
eyesalve, that thou mayest see" (Rev 3:18). How do we buy this gold tried in the
fire? By being tested, tried and proven.
And four means -- creation. With
this common understanding, the next few verses take on more meaning. We see here that man
is God's creation. "So God created man in His own image, in the image of God
created he him, male and female created He them" (Gen 1:27). "And the
Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath
of life; and man became a living soul"( Gen 2:7)."This is the book of
the generation of Adam. In the day that God created man, in the likeness of God made he
him; male and female created He them; and blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the
day when they were created" (Gen 5:1-2).
Thousand, of course, means _ the full
manifestation of God in the earth. Wow! What a difference, now that we know what the
number 144,000 in reality means.
And the word redeemed says -- to buy back, to pay
off as a promissory note, to recover, to free from captivity by paying a ransom. Jesus
paid our ransom that He didn't owe, to redeem us. "Therefore the redeemed
of the Lord shall return, and come with singing unto Zion; and everlasting joy
shall be upon their head: they shall obtain gladness and joy; and sorrow and morning shall
flee away" (Isa 51:11). "Even as the Son of man came not to be
ministered unto, but to minister and to give His life a ransom for many" (Matt
20:28, Mk 10:45). "Who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time"
(1 Tim 2:6).
These three qualities, tested, tried and proven,
will prepare us to come into the fullness of God that Paul spoke of: "Till we all
come in the unity of the faith, and of the full knowledge of the Son of God, into a
perfect man, into the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ" (Eph
4:13). So the redeemed (the 144,000 ) being a new creation of God, came through testings
by fire into the full knowledge of the Son of God, while manifesting God's glory to all.
In other words singing the Song of the Lord.
When we are living and walking with the Lord and
He is our all in all, we shall sing this new song. To sing a song we have to have words
and a melody. But this new song comes straight from heaven above, and no man will be
writing it, because the NEW SONG is already written -- it is JESUS CHRIST.
We find in the scriptures several places with this saying. "The Lord is MY
strength and SONG, and He is become my salvation: He is my God, and I
will prepare Him an habitation, my Father's God, and I will exalt Him" (EX
15:2). "The Lord is MY strength and SONG, and
is become my salvation" (Ps 118:14). "Behold, God is my salvation; I
will trust, and not be afraid: for the Lord Jehovah is MY SONG; He also
is become my salvation" (Isa 12:2).
Yes JESUS CHRIST is the NEW
SONG, not only He, but we are part of this beautiful song also, because we are
His body. A few years back the Lord let me see this wonderful truth in the music scale.
There are 8 notes, which are: DO - RE - MI - FA - SOL - LA - TI - DO. The first and the
last are the same -- Jesus. He said I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending,
the first and the last. Then there are six notes in the middle -- they are man, yes they
are. We know and read that the number 6 means man (Rev. 13:18). Here we have Christ the
beginning, the DO --man in the middle, the RE - MI - FA - SOL - LA - TI -- and Christ the
ending, the DO, making up the whole body of Christ, or the musical scale. So that together
we can sing the NEW SONG. You see, a musical performance is a partnership between composer
and performer, as mentioned on page one. In Revelation 1:18 we find another example of
scripture that goes along with this thought, that Jesus is the beginning and the ending,
and man is in the middle. "I am He that lived, and was dead; and behold, I am alive
for evermore." This scripture speaks of Jesus Christ, but also refers to us. I am He
that liveth, who is Jesus - the DO. That which was dead was not only Jesus, but man also
-- the RE, MI, FA, SOL, LA, TI. And He who is alive for evermore is Jesus - the DO.
Matthew 8:22 and Luke 9:60 tell us that man is dead, but in Christ we are all made alive
(1 Cor 15:22). The first DO is a lower pitch (dead), and the last DO is a higher pitch
(alive). When the first and the last begin to sound, it awakens those in between (man who
is dead), and they rise in resurrection life as the Song is sung.
A Symphonic song is a harmony of sounds, that has
four movements, up, down, the length, and the breath of it. I think Eph 3:18 refers to
these four directions, that we "May be able to comprehend with all saints what is
the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;" The Sons are tuning up, and
when they begin to sing they will move up and down, the length and the breath of it, to
reach every human being in this earth, that they may hear the Word and learn this new song
also.
The Lord Jesus is the Chief Musician and the
Director of the heavenly choir and our Song, He gives us the Word, Himself, to speak
(sing), because He went before us. The Song of the Lord is the life of the inner man that
we received from God. In the Song of the Lord there is the Word, and music, there is a
melody, a harmony, and a clear sound. This clear sound has never been heard before except
in Jesus. A song is a composition to be rendered by the voice, suited to poetry for
musical expression. Music is the art of making harmonious combination of tunes. Melody
is an arrangement of single notes in succession, and the Word is Jesus. "In the
beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in
the beginning with God.... And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld
His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth"
(John 1:1-2,14). And Harmony brings it all together, in union, a pleasing
arrangement of parts to one another's agreement, a singleness of effect. We have to agree,
be in one accord, and be in symphonic harmony with Christ when we are singing the SONG OF
THE LORD. The word agree in Matthew. 18:19 is harmonious which comes
from symphonio. Symphonies have always been played in the realm of God, and they
have far transcended our natural ears. Because in God everything is in tune and perfect
order.
We have so many songs, that people have written
that we sing. Let us look at one of them; for it states very adequately what I am saying,
and what the Lord showed me.
You are the words
and the music
You are the song
that I sing
You are the melody
You are the harmony
Praises to you I will bring
You are the Mighty God
You are the King of kings
You are the Lord of lords Now I return to you,
The Song you gave to me.
You are the song
that I sing
Here we have been singing this beautiful song,
and we really never saw what it said. That Jesus Christ is the New Song. What a privilege
and honor to sing the Lord's Song. And God the Father has chosen us for this purpose. A
song in scripture represents both praise and a message. When God first revealed Himself to
us we were praising Him in song. Now, when we are speaking the Word, which is Jesus, the
Spirit flows through our tabrets and pipes and we are sounding the trumpet. Which is that
NEW SONG. What happens when we are sounding the trumpet? "... At the last trump:
for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible" (1 Cor
15:52). The dead shall be raised, WOW! What a savior we have. So "Make a joyful
noise unto God, all ye lands: Sing forth the honour of His name:
(nature) make His praise glorious" ( Ps 66:1-2). "I will sing of the
mercies of the Lord for ever: with my mouth will I make known Thy faithfulness to all
generations" (Ps 89:1). "I delight to do Thy will, O
my God: yea Thy law is within my heart. I have preached righteousness in the great
congregation: lo, I have not refrained my lips, O Lord, Thou knowest. I have not hid Thy
righteousness within my heart, I have declared thy faithfulness and Thy salvation; I have
not concealed Thy lovingkindness and Thy truth from the great congregation" (Ps
40:8-10). By doing God's will, by sharing what the Lord showed us, and by simply
manifesting Him in our lives, we are singing His song. "The Lord is my strength
and my shield; my heart trusted in Him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly
rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise Him" (Ps 28:7). The New
Song is the revealing of Jesus Christ, and it has the power and force to set creation
free, and we are the singers. So the song that I sing is my Lord Jesus Christ. Let us give
thanks to God the Father that there is a NEW SONG -- the Word of God -- Christ Jesus.
AMEN.
