SHEILA’S [J-A-T] TIDBITS No.14 (May 26 2015) It was while I was writing Tidbit 13, that I WAS REMINDED of a further ‘chapter’ in our learning experiences as missionaries in training many years ago. This was a time of Faith building as we learned to put our confidence in the Lord and not in man.(Psalm.119: 9) … Our Pantry was bare when we received a financial gift of $2.00. Yes $2.00 - NOT $200! To-day $2.00 does not buy one cup of coffee but that day I went to the campus store and proceeded to s-t-r-e-t-c-h it as much as possible, to buy as much as possible, to last as long as possible! As I entered our home I heard, so clearly, "Take no thought for tomorrow, what you shall eat..." I knew immediately that I should have used the $2.00 just for that day’s needs. We could have sat down to a good nutritious meal that evening and trusted the Lord for His supply the next day! Soon there was another lesson to be learnt. Una (tidbit 13) sent one of her children to our door with a letter in which was $5.00 and the words from (2 Cor.8:14): "But by an equality, that now at this time your abundance may be a supply for their want". If it had not been for the verse, I would have had difficulty in receiving the gift for I truly believed that their needs were greater than ours -- but again we were learning a scriptural principle in the walk of faith. From that time until Father moved us out and onward, we shared 50/50 of all finances that came to us with Una’s family. I believe that they did the same and we all prospered and had an abundance. Do these principles still apply in this day? |
