‘re-thinking’ some of the parables … No.10

INSTRUCTION FROM GOD

(Mat 13:52)  Then said he unto them, Therefore every scribe who is instructed unto the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is a householder, which brings forth out of his treasure things new and old.

The ‘therefore’ at the beginning here relates it to the preceding parable concerning separating good and evil thoughts from within us. Now this account applies that parable to those who desire to ‘serve the Lord’ in ministry of changing lives to become as the Lord Jesus. Each will endeavour under the Lordship of the Spirit of God to separate old lifeless teachings from the fresh oil from the throne

Every writer, teacher, ministry and exhorter today must have within his treasure a testimony, understanding and correct vision concerning the Kingdom of Heaven. These vessels must have experience in walking the ‘word’ of the Kingdom . . . they must each be taught of the indwelling Holy Spirit (John 14:26). They must grasp that there is a difference between the Kingdom of Heaven/God and ‘Church activities’ which for the most part are ‘mind games’ and certainly not beneficial to the development of the Christ-life in each believer.

Each one desiring a ministry that centers on ‘present truth’ and the ways and details of the Kingdom of God must have a depth of experience walking with the Lord and hearing His voice. He or she must be led of the Spirit, taught of the Spirit and will know he is a son of God (Romans 8:14) For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons (mature sons – HUIOS) of God. Each one will know who he is -- a mature son coming forth in the image and likeness of the Lord because of the grace of God released at Calvary.

Each promoter of present truth is likened here to a householder . . . a person who is responsible for a family, the running of his household and in the leading of the family. Over many preceding years he will have stored up many a ‘treasure’ of revelation and understanding — not just acquiring letter-word knowledge of the scriptures. He will have experienced some of the old traditional ways and be willing to have them superseded by new understandings and revelations of the hour just like progressing from experiencing the Feast of Passover to the Feast of Pentecost and then on to the Feast of Tabernacles. He will have been enabled to know which part of the old is to be placed alongside the new.

Above all it is essential in any teaching ministry that each one is instructed of the Lord.

(John 14:26)  But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, He shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. §
