TRANSITION INTO HIS KINGDOM

“For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the holy Spirit.” (Romans 14:17)

How we yearn for the fullness of His kingdom within, that the inner domain would be ALL RIGHTEOUS, FILLED WITH PEACE, OVERFLOWING WITH JOY. We recognize that we are in a transition, because He is “delivering us from the power of darkness, and translating us into the kingdom of His dear Son”, (Colossians 1:13). Translating is a process. The same Greek word has been given as being ‘removed’, taken from one place and put over into another. This includes all the disruption and rooting up from the former way of life, ending the dominion of darkness over us, and then bringing us into the light and glory of His kingdom. “Old things pass away, all things become new”.

We freely acknowledge that “by the grace of God I am what I am,” (I Corinthians 15:10), and “I do not frustrate the grace of God,” (Galatians 2:21). The word ‘frustrate’ here comes from the Greek word meaning: to ‘belittle, think down’. We acknowledge that we are “being changed, from glory to glory”. Because of His grace we are not what we used to be. We will not belittle, nor think down what He has done thus far. We bow low to worship before Him; magnify Him for such grace to us-ward. Yet with Paul we realize “not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect; but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus,” (Philippians 3:12). The final changes are yet to come, but we are so grateful for the workings of His kingdom within, however much ‘in part’ it may now be.

The grace of God is building up His people; His kingdom is being established within His people. It will not come by observation, not by the intense scrutiny of self-examination, (See Luke 17:20). But we must keep our eye single unto Him who is the Author and the Finisher of our faith, for He will bring us into its fullness in due time. Yet even now, there is that undergirding of His righteousness, and He KEEPS us in the way of holiness. There is an abiding peace which the world cannot give, and which it cannot take away. And there is joy – even a song in the night. Praise God.
