"The Voice of the Lord
MAKETH THE HINDS TO CALVE"
(Psa 29:9)
"He who hears the Voice of the Son of God shall Live," as Jesus so boldly proclaimed. We have traveled through six of the seven voices housed in this One Mighty Voice. Now, the 7th and final one, the Voice of the Lord that Makes the Hinds to Calve.
What a glorious time of life when the newborn fawns of the field begin to appear. The frail creatures mark the end of winter as their speckled coats herald the beginning of spring. The valleys blanketed with ice and snow are replaced with a green carpet of grass, lavishly arrayed with flowers of all kinds. Laden with dew and embraced by the sun, they sparkle like jewels.
Throughout the long, wind–chilled nights of winter there is no sign of new life. The generations that were born in another time meagerly forage while enduring the bane of death; but elsewhere, there is not much life. There is no evidence of life in the leafless trees whose limbs often snapped under the weight of heavy snows and freezing rain. The grass of the earth withers and dies, and likewise its companions, the flowers and flora of the hills. Many animals, especially the deer, meet similar fates. Like all the others of the fields and forests that await the budding of life, developing fawns lie undisturbed and protected until the thaw comes, waiting in the dark world of hades. Spring is joyfully welcomed as it escorts them into the arena of the living.
The sticky sap that settled deep in the roots of the leafless trees is also stirred by the dawn of Spring. Like the unborn fawns, it was busily at work in those secret places of the unseen, making ready for a time to come. At the warming of the frozen earth, it flows ever up and through the woody sinews of the trunk, always rising until it unfolds as shimmering leaves and blossoms in full bloom — proclaiming a new day. The seeds of the valley's grass, and also those of the flower, break and take root. Their blades shoot from the ground to eagerly be wrapped about by the golden rays of the morning sun. And fawns come forth. Thus — creation in its release from hell.
These are the beginnings of the Voice that Makes the Hinds to Calve. It brings the warmth of spring for the creatures of the field (those who do not know Christ). The Voice ushers in a new day, and a newness of life is known. It releases them from death, from hell, and from the grave.
When the Voice of Birthing is heard — the groaning creation finally enjoys the same liberty of life as the children of God (Rom. 8:19–23). What a wonder it is for them to hear that marvelous voice, the voice that sounds from the midst of the Lake of Fire, i.e., the manifestation of the Body of God's Sons. This is their great hope and longing expectation. The creation has waited untold millennium for this glorious unveiling — and they shall all see it together. This shall initiate their liberty from hell and death. Like the children of God, they shall be born of Him — ALL OF THEM! If this were not so, Jesus could never be the FIRSTBORN OF ALL CREATION (Col 1:15).
The first six Voices of the Lord dealt with those He called into His Church and onward to sonship. And I believe you know that I am not speaking of the Church as being denominations, organizations, or the latest moves of God, although some in His body my be imprisoned by them. The Church of which I speak is comprised of the living stones of the glorious Body of Christ.
The Voice of the Son of God called people from a dark world and set them on a journey unprecedented in the history of mankind. Only God knows how many are true conscripts and what they must suffer, but it is clear that the numbers grow fewer with each voice.
It is impossible to count those who first heard the Voice of the Lord as Thunder. But we do know they rejoiced in the light that illumined the abyss of their dark souls. Not all, however, continued in this light. Some fell away for various reasons. There were others who remained in religious orders, and a few went on to become figureheads and leaders in those organizations. Quite a number became hirelings. Not only do they preach for gain, but they love the dim glory of their own darkness more than Christ's brilliant Light of Life. Upon this lifted stage they became good actors and widely renowned. Jesus called them hypocrites in His day.
Those who hungered for righteousness, and who had not been chained by a system of men who usurp the place of the Shepherd of their souls, went on. They heard and yielded to the Voice of Power, and were filled with the Holy Spirit of Promise. There were fewer that heard this voice than the first, but what a tremendous surge in their Christian walk. Awesome powers of the Spirit were experienced by some, marvelous miracles that can be attributed to God alone. Most felt that it couldn't get any better than this, including myself, and sadly for some it never did. They camped there and died in the wilderness. They made the baptism itself their golden calf, and the earth swallowed them back into itself. No longer are they spiritual, but are now of the earth, earthy. They may speak in 'unintelligible tongues,' attend 'spirit–filled' churches, and may be members of 'full–gospel' organizations, but they are carnal. Everything of their makeup is of the earth, earthy. Their icon did not keep them in Christ, but instead, they fell by the wayside, back into the earth.
Those who did not fall back heard the next voice, the Voice of Majesty — Sonship! The glory of it was beyond our comprehension. Just to think that we would not fly away in what some called 'the Great Escape,' but would someday be manifested as the sons of God. It was tremendous. And fewer heard this voice than the one preceding. After a time, we began to see some of the 'elect' falling away too. It was hard to understand how they could turn back after hearing such a voice as sonship. We couldn't imagine how they could sell their birthright for the beggarly elements of the world, or to go back to the system of Babylon. Then we understood. Most had never heard the Voice of the Lord that is full of Majesty. They heard the doctrine of it, perhaps, but its Voice, it is unlikely. The doctrine alone could not keep them through the rigors of the voice that followed — the Voice of the Lord that Breaks the Cedars of Lebanon.
This breaking voice reduced the numbers greatly. It smote us and broke us. It crushed our Adamic will. It led us into the wilderness where we would have surely perished had we not been kept by the guiding hand and might of our Lord. During the time of this voice, we learned that we could no longer trust upon the arm of flesh, not our own nor any other's. We were alone with God as he broke our hard and tenacious will — the Cedars of Lebanon.
After our proud souls no longer declared, "It is MY WILL, O Father, not thine be done," the fifth voice came, the Voice of the Lord that Carves the Flames of Fire. This whittled the numbers down even more. We were chastened sorely by the previous voice, but now the Lord deals with us as mature sons. He carves His Flaming Word with precision in our hearts wherein no evil thing shall dwell or proceed. This flaming word in turn carves His Ministers of Flaming Fire. By His Word of Fire He shapes our individual lives, preparing us for the service to which we were called — that we may shine in a dark world and give light to the lost.
Our lives, however bright they may shine inwardly, will not be a part of His great work of the Manifestation of the Sons of God as long as they burn as lone flames. Of necessity, we must hear the Voice of the Lord that Twists (Forms, and Molds us into One Body) the Wilderness of Kadesh (the arranged sanctuaries ). As we stand in this late hour of the latter days, this is the one primary work of the Spirit that has not yet been finished.
I believe the Voice of Forming is sounding, but we do not yet see its effects. Some may have heard the first sounds of this voice, or at least the doctrine of it, and ran before the work of the Spirit could reveal itself in true form. They may be gathering together, but it may not be by the twisting, forming power of His Spirit. Howbeit, we are confident that the forming of His Body of Fire will be established in righteousness (Isa. 54:14); and from this flaming body shall the voice of deliverance go out to the lost.
This Seventh Voice brings light and life to the world, causing the Hinds to Calve; but it also brings judgment — it discovers the forests. More accurately translated: "The Voice of the Lord...strips the forests bare..." (Psa. 29:9 NASB). There is one element that strips a forest bare more effectively than anything else, and that is FIRE.
Let us briefly be reminded of the two previous voices we heard, the Voice that Carves the Flames of Fire, and the Voice that Twists and Forms the Sanctuary in the Wilderness. Also, that God is Fire, His Glory is Fire, His Word is Fire, and His Ministers are Fire. Each flame of God in our lives must be carved into the image and likeness of the Fire who lit our candles in the first place — Christ Jesus. Afterwards, we are twisted and formed into one body. This glorious body of flaming sons is the Lake of Fire wherein everything that pertains to death is cast.
The Great White Throne Judgment brings the whole creation standing before God. His judgment (Grk. krino, decision) determines their necessary coarse that will bring about a new heaven and new earth in their lives. The decision is that all death will be cast into the Lake of Fire that shall blanket the earth with its eternal Sons of flaming glory. The degree of one's hardness of heart, estrangement from God, and carnality of nature will dictate the method of God's dealing with each soul in order to raise him to Life. With some, the fire will no doubt be as the warming of the spring sun, and they shall quickly and joyfully come forth into life as the fawns of spring. Others, however, will of necessity require much more of God's tormenting blaze of glory; and the blast of His wind will send a fire–storm through the lives of their lush forests like they had never known — stripping them bare! It will consume every proud splinter of wood, hay, and stubble of human carnality.
At the Manifestation of the Lake of Fire, more commonly known as the Manifestation of the Sons of God, the world and the fullness thereof will begin to take on a glorious change. In His sanctuaries will be the sounds of joyous splendor: "...And in His temple everything says, Glory!" (Psa. 29:9 NASB). Not everything in His temple today says, declares, nor manifests His glory. But when the flames are twisted together, and as one Body they begin the work of total reconciliation in the world — everyone in the body of His temple will say, "GLORY!"
Their voices will rise from the midst of His living temple of people, giving Him praise, and honor, and glory. Yet this is only a portion of the praise due Him. The command is also given to the rest of the world, and they are to do the same: "Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD" (Psa 150:6). After the fire, they shall surely fulfill the word that came out of the mouth of God's anointed. When the fire of His Glorious Lake has finished consuming every particle of wood, refining every precious metal, and purging every sin, creation will break forth in symphonic harmony of praising the Lord. John was privileged to hear this magnificent array of exulting honor and glory: "Every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto Him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever." (Rev 5:13).
There is little wonder why the Lake of Fire would produce such high praises from every creature. At the end of the unveiling, the Revelation of Jesus Christ, John witnessed the grand finale in every soul and body. After the flaming glory of its work, in every creature he saw "...A new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea." (Rev. 21:1). The high and lofty heavens of men's minds, their exalted imaginations, their works, and all things of earthy value fled in God's presence, at the beginning of the white throne judgment. At the end of it they are all made new! And this is by and in the glory of the Lake of Fire, but there is more:
"And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself shall be with them, and be their God." (Rev. 21:3). How many do we suppose He will tabernacle with? One percent or two, as church dogma proposes, or perhaps more? More, of course, much more, even all who were previously judged unworthy to be His tabernacles, and who were cast into the Lake of Fire!
Another reason for every creature in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth singing such praise and honor and glory to the Lamb was the next thing the apostle of love heard: "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away...Behold, I make ALL things new..." (Rev. 21:4–5).
I will not attempt to debate, persuade, or explain why I believe that these verses ring with such divine truth. But I will rejoice with every spirit and soul quickened by the same, those who can see what the Flaming Word and Ministers of Fire shall bring forth in humanity! The world is now overwrought with heart–rending tears, but they shall all be wiped away, to never return. Where there was pain, sorrow, and weeping that endured through the night, the Sons of the God will bring the joy of morning. With healing in their wings, they shall abolish all hurt. Where death reigned king over the earth, it will rule no more, it will cease to be — for ALL death will be swallowed up of LIFE (1 Cor 15:54–57). As in Adam all died, even so, in Christ shall all be made alive (1 Cor. 15:20). Some are quickened in this life, and the others shall be in the next. If not in this life, the lake of fire will surely bring it to pass in the next.
For some it will be a great loss. If they have sown to the flesh in this life and they do not reap the harvest of judgment, they will in the lake of fire. Yet, there will be a day when even their God–hating heart will love Him, and their blasphemous tongue will confess Him as Lord and praise Him. This is sure for every soul, so states Philippians 2:9–11.
They will not be among those who are called overcomers, those who inherit all things, as John also heard (Rev. 21:7), but they will not forever remain in rebellion, in sin, nor in sorrow and suffering, nor in death of any kind. At the sound of the Lord's Voice, at the great white throne judgment, their forests will be made bare. The Lake of Fire that burns with Brimstone will surely do this. The covering glory of their boughs, even their fig leaves, will be burned to ashes in the presence of His Glory.
The Lord, however, is full of mercy; it endureth forever (Psa. 139:1–26). He will not leave them destitute and naked. In His mercy we see Him sending from the heavens His quickening Word that will raise them up: "For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, And do not return there without watering the earth, And making it bear and sprout, And furnishing seed to the sower and bread to the eater; So shall My Word be which goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me empty, Without accomplishing what I desire, And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it. For you will go out with joy, And be led forth with peace; The mountains and the hills will break forth into shouts of joy before you, And all the trees of the field will clap their hands. Instead of the thorn bush the cypress will come up; And instead of the nettle the myrtle will come up; And it will be a memorial to the LORD, For an everlasting sign which will not be cut off" (Isa 55:10–13).
Praise God for such victory over death! First by fire, and then the rain! Let the trumpets sound! For also, "The Lord sitteth upon the flood; yea, the Lord sitteth King for ever." (Psa 29:10).
No longer are the heavens invaded and ruled by the dragon — they are made new and there is found no place for him. Satan, the prince of the power of the air, the devil, the ancient serpent of men's minds is cast from God's throne and into the lake of fire with all the other agents of death. For the Lord, yea the Lord of flaming glory, sits King forever, drying the flood of lies and consuming death that once came gushing from the serpent's mouth! And He "...will give strength unto His people; the Lord will bless His people with peace" (Psa. 29:11). Praise His Holy name!
