ONE IN A HUNDRED
“These are they which follow the Lamb withersoever He goeth. These were redeemed
from among men, the firsfruits unto God and to the Lamb. And in their mouth was
found no guile: for they are without fault before the throne of God.” Revelation
14:4-5
Conformed to His image, one in Christ, filled with His Spirit, possessing His
divine nature – no man will be able to counterfeit the reality of this new state
of being, and these shall redound to the glory of God. They will be the
manifestation of “the image and glory of God”. (I Corinthians 11:7)
Significant that the “sheaf” offered to the Lord at Passover, for a firstfruits,
is the Hebrew word “omer”. While Exodus 16:36 explains that as a measurement,
“an omer is the tenth part of an ephah”. While Ezekiel 45:11 tells us “the ephah
is the tenth part of an homer”. Perhaps these terms of measurement are
unfamiliar, but briefly it comes to this: with the “homer” being the full
measurement, and the “ephah” on-tenth thereof, this makes the “omer” to be
one-hundredth of an “homer”. Thus, this omer-sheaf, which is offered to the
Lord, AS A FIRSTFRUITS, is but a tenth of a tenth of the whole, or, literally,
one in a hundred.
The earth is the Lord’s, and the fullness thereof, but it is this very minority
of the firstfruits which becomes the focal point of His attention and inworking,
as He takes them “one of a city, and two of a family”, (Jeremiah 3:14), to bring
them to Zion, into the fullness of redemption.
Again, using the number of an hundred for fullness, Jesus gave His parable,
“What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not
leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost,
until he find it?” (Luke 15:4). He is vitally interested in ALL His sheep, but
the priority is to NOW seek out that “one in a hundred”. He will return for the
other “ninety and nine in the wilderness”, after He has taken to Himself this
“one”. What joy for the Shepherd when this one is restored, for such is the
assurance and security of promise that all shall be gathered again unto Himself,
that He might be all in all.
