AUGUST 28
AN HORN OF SALVATION
“Blessed be the Lord God of
Israel; for He hath visited
and redeemed His people. And
hath raised up an horn of
Salvation for us in the
house of His servant David.”
(Luke 1:68-69)
“For mine eyes have seen Thy
salvation, which Thou hast
prepared before the face of
all people.” (Luke 2:30-31).
The first verse was quoted
by Zacharias, as he
prophesied concerning John
the Baptist, of that “horn
of salvation” that would
come forth as expression of
“the tender mercy of our
God; whereby the dayspring
from on high hath visited
us, to give light to them
that sit in darkness and in
the shadow of death, to
guide our feet into the way
of peace.” (Luke 1:77-78).
It was not fully fulfilled
in his son John, who but
prepared the way for The
Christ, but it finds its
fulfillment in our Redeemer,
and shall also find
fulfillment’s expression
through that whole anointed
son-company of whom He is
the Head.
The salvation of the Lord is
not only an experience, it
is that, true, but it is
also personified, first and
foremost in the personage of
our Lord Jesus Christ, and
then in His many-membered-body,
for it is prophesied that
“saviours shall come up on
mount Zion to judge the
mount of Esau; and the
kingdom shall be the
Lord’s.” (Obadiah 21).
“Enoch also, the seventh
from Adam, prophesied of
these, saying, Lo, the Lord
cometh in holy myriads of
Himself.” Jude 14, Literal).
God is preparing a SALVATION
COMPANY! It staggers the
imagination, and beggars all
description – a calling so
holy, so high, so heavenly.
Yet it is His working all
the way, and “Faithful is He
that calleth you, who also
will do it.” (1 Thess.
5:24).
Hasten, O Horn of Salvation
–
Light to the nations to
give,
The knowledge of full
deliv’rance
Till all men in Christ shall
live.
