JUNE 30
A BODY TO REVEAL HIS GLORY
“For our conversation is in
heaven; from whence also we
look for the Saviour, the
Lord Jesus Christ: who shall
change our vile body, that
it may be fashioned like
unto His glorious body.”
(Phil. 3:20-21)
Our present earthen vessel
body is spoken of as a “vile
body,” or more literally,
from the Greek text, a “body
of humiliation, “being
subjected to the tyranny of
change and decay. It also is
a body that conceals what we
really are inside. But when
we have a changed body, like
unto His glorious body, our
new body will be a
revelation of our true state
of being in Him.
When Adam and Eve lost their
covering of light, they were
naked, and so “Thou hast
clothed me with skin and
flesh, and hast fenced me
with bones and sinews.” (Job
10:11), to conceal, to
cover, to hide this state of
being with all of its
emptiness and vanity. And
when Jesus came unto His
own, they knew Him not, for
He who was the manifestation
and revelation of God to
man, was concealed in a body
after the fashion of our
humiliation, and they could
not see His glory.
But on the mount, when He
was transfigured before a
few of His disciples, to
give expression for a brief
moment of His true inner
nature, they beheld the
glory “as of the only
begotten of the Father.”
(John 1:14). But after His
resurrection, when He passed
through the door when it was
closed, to stand before
them, to their amazement,
His body gave testimony of
who He truly was. And so
also, our new body shall be
a revelation of our new and
true state of being in
Christ.
Presently, we “have this
treasure in earthen
vessels,“ (2 Cor. 4:7), and
much of the light is
concealed by the flesh. Only
when our spirits are joined
to each other, and flow in
oneness with the Spirit of
Christ, do we really discern
the true life that is hidden
in each other’s earthen
vessel. If we are not
careful, we fall into the
snare of judging after the
outward, and read the flesh
instead of the inner spirit.
But when we shall have been
totally changed, all will
know our true inner state,
for our body will be a
revelation of His glory,
redounding to His praise.
