The
World
Crucified
To Me
by Ray

"But
God
forbid
that I
should
glory,
save in
the
cross of
our Lord
Jesus
Christ,
by whom
the
world is
crucified
unto me,
and I
unto the
world."
(Galatians
6::14)
There is
a sense
that in
Christ
the
whole
world,
kosmos,
present
arrangement,
was hung
on the
cross
with
Him.
His
death
spelled
out the
death of
the
whole
present
realm.
He
purposes
to bring
forth a
new
heaven
and a
new
earth
"wherein
dwelleth
righteousness."
No
wonder
the
unregenerate
man is
frustrated
in his
seeing
for
worldly
satisfaction.
The
cross is
reaching
the
whole
present
order.
It is IN
CHRIST,
and our
union
with
Him,
that we
find the
crucifixion
of the
world
most
real to
us, for
it was
through
His
cross
that
this
operation
was set
in
motion.
Such
processes
might be
a long
time
coming
to their
conclusion,
and for
some, it
may seem
that the
process
hardly
exists
at all,
as they
blindly
go on
their
selfish
pursuits.
But for
those
who are
apprehended
now, to
become
one in
Christ,
these
things
become
very
real in
an
experimental
way.
Through
Him
the
world,
praise
God,
is
crucified
to
me,
Its
power
stripped
away,
to
end
its
tyranny.
No
more
the
stranglehold
that
binds
into
its
mesh,
The
corpse
has
no
allure
to
titillate
the
flesh.
So
all
my
"little
worlds"
must
face
the
cross
and
be
Crucified,
that
I no
more
shall
serve
their
decree.
If we
still
feel the
pull of
the
world,
the call
of the
wild,
urging
us on,
obviously
the
world
has not
yet been
crucified
to us.
But as
we are
made one
in
Christ,
it goes
dead, no
longer
able to
reach
out to
us, and
we will
renounce
it,
thereafter
to seek
the
fulness
of His
life.
Renunciation
is more
than
just
taking
back our
allegiance
from the
world,
it also
implies
a
complete
and
deliberate
stand
for
truth,
abandoning
all
else.
It is a
withdrawal
from
submission
and
obedience
to the
prince
of this
world,
to
deliberately
follow
Christ,
renouncing
all
other
rights
over
you.
Thus it
becomes
an
acquisition,
not a
loss,
but a
gain,
receiving
of His
life.
