NOVEMBER 1
LOOKING STRAIGHT AHEAD
“Let thine eyes look right on, and thine eyelids look straight before thee.
Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established. Turn not to
the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil.” (Prov. 4:25 –27)
When our eyes are looking straight before us, girded up and fastened on Jesus,
the Author and the Finisher of our faith, for sure, all our ways will be
established, ordered aright. Indeed, The ways of man are before the eyes of the
Lord, and He pondereth all his goings,”(Prov:5:21). It gives both a sense of
security and confidence knowing that our ways are always before Him. We are not
wandering in a wilderness of humanity, lost in a crowd, unknown and unrecognized
by the Lord. Even when we are not consciously aware of Him, He is still very
much aware of us and where we dwell.
In those times when we cannot see ahead, for it all appears veiled in fog,
clouded with a dusty atmosphere, or seemingly all gone dead, yet we can say with
the Psalmist, “When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, then Thou knewest my
path,” (Ps. 142:3). And inwardly held by His mighty hand, we walk it out until
we see the unfolding of His purpose, and new life springs forth to cause
rejoicing.
As to the negative conditions about us we are not ignorant, restlessness grips
mankind, we are precariously balanced on the edge of gross upheaval, and
perilous times are before us – yet these very conditions make it imperative that
we make sure “Thine eyes look straight before thee.” He goes before us, and He
is our victory. Surely the embryo of tomorrow’s victory lies in the womb of our
today and yesterday. Victory is not a sudden happenstance! God prepared our
path, and marked out our way, even before we knew Him, or became aware that His
hand was placed upon our life. Thus our today, however routine and uneventful it
might appear, however dry of spiritual surgings, still it is used as a part of
the process to birth the triumphs that lie ahead – and so we look straight ahead
to the joy that is set before us.
Look straight before thee, behold thy ordered way,
And know that the Eternal hath measured out thy day.
