OCTOBER 7
THE INWORKING OF DEATH
“In Whom we have obtained an
inheritance, being
predestinated according to
the purpose of Him who
worketh all things after the
counsel of His own will,
that we should be to the
praise of His glory…” (Eph.
1:11-12)
“For we which live are
always delivered unto death
for Jesus’ sake, that the
life also of Jesus might be
made manifest in our mortal
flesh. So then death worketh
in us, but life in you.” (2
Cor. 4:11). Herein we see
that the “death process”
becomes a tool of the Lord,
for He has “the keys of hell
and death.” (Rev. 1:18). “He
that is our God is the God
of salvation; and unto God
the Lord belong the issues
(outgoings) from death.”
(Ps. 68:20). Whether it be
in its most symbolic forms,
or in its most literal
forms, death is now totally
become a servant of our
Lord. Herein is the triumph
of Calvary.
“Restrained and diminished,
complete defeat,
Death bows low to serve at
the Master’s feet.”
Christ can now operate the
inworkings of death, using
it for His purpose. To use
death to end the old realm,
and open the way for a NEW
LIFE IN THE SPIRIT. And one
of the beautiful results of
His working death IN US, it
also releases the Spirit of
His Life to flow through us
to bring life to others. The
more we die out to self, and
all the old flesh-order, the
more we are purged from that
which would restrict His
free movement in and through
us.
How often we find that the
death throes, as self is
nailed to the cross, becomes
the birth-pangs of a whole
new realm; not only for
ourselves, but also for
others around us. The more
we can see that “JOY SET
BEFORE US” of the new life,
the more we can endure the
cross, despise its shame,
holding our commitment firm,
“THY WILL BE DONE.” Out of
our innermost being shall
flow the rivers of living
water, but only after He has
thoroughly removed the
debris of self which would
hinder its flow. All of this
has been experienced in
part, and hence the process
continues, old things
passing away, all things
becoming new, until He is
all in all in us.
