SEPTEMBER 18
CALL THEM “THE HOLY PEOPLE”
“And they shall call them,
the holy people, the
redeemed of the Lord.”
(Isaiah 62:12)
The Hebrew word “qodish” and
the Greek “hagios” are the
main words from which we get
the words holy, saint,
sanctification, separate,
set apart.
This sanctifying, set apart
processing, to produce A
HOLY PEOPLE, has been
operative in both the
natural and spiritual
realms. In the Old Testament
times, houses and fields
were sanctified, or set
apart unto the Lord. And at
times even their animals
were sanctified unto the
Lord. If it was a field,
whatever that field produced
was the Lord’s. If it was a
house, then however it was
used, it was to be for the
Lord.
From the realm of
“possessions” this
sanctifying then progressed
to people, as individuals
and families were set apart
for the service of the Lord,
to fulfill a specific
purpose, even as the Levites
were set apart for the
service of the Lord, to be
His priests to minister to
the people.
But God has purposed there
shall come a day when ALL
His people shall be HOLY,
set apart from sin, unto His
righteousness. Redeemed from
the bondage of corruption,
into the glorious liberty of
HIS LIFE.
When Christ came, “then said
He, Lo, I come to do Thy
will, O God. – By which will
we are sanctified through
the offering of the body of
Jesus Christ once for all.”
(Heb. 10: 9-10).
What kind of a will is this
that has the power to
sanctify? It is that will
which is fully and totally
submerged into, and become
one with THE WILL OF GOD.
Jesus Christ was ONE in the
Father’s will, so freely
offered Himself, giving His
life for every man.
“Wherefore Jesus also, that
He might sanctify the people
with His own blood, suffered
without the gate.” (Heb.
13:12). Receiving HIS LIFE,
HIS WILL, we are likewise
set apart, “for this is the
will of God, even your
sanctification.” (1 Thess.
4:3). Set apart from the
world, from the lust of the
flesh, but not only a
separation FROM, but also a
separation UNTO – unto
Christ, to receive of His
life and fullness.
