AUGUST 1
LOINS GIRDED WITH TRUTH
“Stand fast therefore,
having your loins girt about
with truth.” (Eph. 6:14)
The “loins“ bespeaks of the
pivotal part of the body.
Ezekiel 1:27 speaks of it as
“from the loins upward…from
the loins downward.” When
one has girded up the loose
garments around the loins,
they are free for the action
above or below, without
floundering in superfluous
garments which entangle and
impede. Peter carries this
directly over into our
application for our
spiritual walk, when he
writes, “gird up the loins
of your mind.” (1 Pet.
1:13).
We would not be circumvented
by any loose ends which
would trip us, or cause us
to falter, stumble, or fall.
He is able to keep us from
falling, it is true, but we
need to be diligent to keep
girded up. Especially is
this true in the realm of
our MIND, so that we do not
stumble over our own
thoughts and imaginations,
and thus are unable to
hasten on in the race set
before us. If our thoughts
are running rampant, chasing
up and down devious paths,
we can very easily find
ourselves tripped up –
unbelief and doubt taking
over, and we miss the
movings of the Spirit which
would lead on in victory.
When time for Israel to
leave Egypt, they were to be
prepared, “with your loins
girded, your shoes on your
feet, and your staff in your
hand.” (Ex. 12:11). We know
not what tomorrow will bring
forth, and we dare not allow
our minds to wander off in
its speculation and
conjecture, regardless of
the possibility of financial
disaster, collapse, or
whatever. The child of god
needs to maintain that
positive vision in Christ,
with every thought girded up
to the truth, with the
purpose of overcoming. What
is truth? “Thy Word is
truth.” (John 17:17). Minds
girded up with the Word of
God!
Loins are also the realm of
the generative powers, as
reference is made to when
Levi “was yet in the loins
of his father Abraham.”
(Heb. 7:10). Thus our minds
need to be girded with
truth, so all that is
brought forth in our minds
need is in harmony with
God’s sovereign purpose for
us in this hour.
