AUGUST 14
PLOWED AS A FIELD
“The heads thereof judge for
reward, and the priests
thereof teach for hire, and
the prophets thereof divine
for money: yet will they
lean upon the Lord, and say,
Is not the Lord among us?
None evil can come upon us.
Therefore shall Zion for
your sake be plowed as a
field…” (Micah 3:11-12)
Zion prefigures the dwelling
place of God, “for the Lord
hath chosen Zion; He hath
desired it for His
habitation.” (Ps. 132:13).
“For ye are the temple of
the Living God; as God hath
said, I will dwell in them,
and walk in them; and I will
be their God, and they shall
be my people.” (2 Cor.
6:16).
But what purgings are
needed, that we might become
His habitation. We have seen
how that they “teach for
hire” and divine for Money,”
all the while using the name
of the Lord, and thinking no
evil will come upon them.
But God shall require it,
and the whole shall be
plowed as a field. And most
especially shall Zion be
plowed, for the Lord will
not allow any of this “other
seed” to grow in them, they
must be free from it all –
until only the PURE WORD OF
THE LORD brings forth in
their lives that which shall
redound to His praise.
We have been plowed, “the
plowers plowed upon my back:
they made long their
furrows.” (ps. 129:3). But a
purpose is being wrought,
and He is removing
everything from within that
caused the glory to depart,
then shall He also receive
us again into Himself.
Weeping may endure for a
night, the dark night if the
soul, but joy cometh in the
morning, as we are brought
into the fullness of His
light and life.
“Wherefore it shall come to
pass, when the Lord hath
performed His whole work
upon mount Zion… I will
punish the fruit if the
stout heart of the king of
Assyria.” (Isa. 10:12).
Assyria was used to oppress
and chasten Zion, God will
deal with them in due time,
but the point now is GOD IS
PERFORMING A WHOLE WORK UPON
MOUUNT ZION. It is of the
Lord that we are being
plowed, chastened, subdued,
but it will be to His praise
when the work is fully
accomplished, and we become
His dwelling place for ever.
