AUGUST 13
HIS MYSTICAL BODY
“Remember Thy congregation,
which Thou hast purchased of
old; the rod of Thine
inheritance, which Thou hast
redeemed; this mount Zion,
wherein Thou hast dwelt.”
(Ps. 74:2)
We rejoice to find in the
Scripture this positive fact
that God has a congregation.
A “congregation” is
different from a “church,”
for a “church” bespeaks of
those who are CALLED OUT –
called out of the world,
called out of religious
Babylon, called out of
minding the flesh, etc., in
ever deepening degrees of
our calling. But a
congregation is that which
is being BROUGHT TOGERHER as
we are joined into one in
His mystical body.
This word “mystical” bears
examination. Webster’s
Dictionary defines it as:
“HAVING SPIRITUAL MEANING,
reality, or the like,
neither apparent to the
senses, nor obvious to the
intelligence; symbolical;
as, the mystical body of
Christ. Also: of, resulting
from, or manifesting an
individual’s direct
communion with God through
contemplation, vision, an
inner light.”
It comes from the same root
word for mystic, or mystery,
which literally means ONE
INITIATED. There is a
company, His elect
firstfruits, now being
initiated by the Spirit into
the mysteries of God, being
led into all truth, and
being joined to Him who is
the Head. Their communion
with God comes from within,
an inner light, not the
result of the intelligence
of the carnal mind, nor that
which is known by the
natural senses. They are
being GATHERED UNTO HIM IN
SPIRIT, a mystical body of
believers, one in Him
regardless or where they
might be scattered through
the nations of the earth.
They are HIS, for He
purchased them of old. OLD –
Hebrew “qedem” before time.
In the plan and purpose of
God they were purchased by
“the Lamb slain from the
foundation of the world.”
(Rev. 13:8).
Congregation, from Hebrew
“moed” – an appointed
assembly. Because He hath
purchased them. Worked in
them by His Spirit a
quickening to become one in
Himself, they shall be
joined to Him, to dwell with
Him where He is. “Be with Me
where I am; that they may
behold My glory.” (John
17:24).
