JULY 22
WHOSE HOUSE WE ARE
“But Christ as a Son over His own house; whose house
are we, if we hold fast the confidence and rejoicing
of the hope firm unto the end.” (Heb. 3:6)
While the children of Israel were passing through
the wilderness, after their deliverance from Egypt,
Moses was instructed to build a temporal tabernacle
for use in their worship to God. This was later
followed by Solomon’s temple, when they were
established in their new land. Both of these
buildings were to serve as an exhibition, or an
earthly display of that greater spiritual habitation
that is yet to be assembled, and which is now in
preparation under the ministration of the holy
Spirit.
We read that “Moses verily was faithful in all his
house, as a servant, for a testimony (a witness) of
those things to be spoken after.” The metaphor is of
a “faithful steward” presiding over his master’s
household. It is as illustrated in Eliezer,
Abraham’s steward, the “eldest servant of his house,
that ruled over all that he had…” (Gen. 24:2). But
in due time the dispensation of Moses passed away,
to be followed by The Christ. And while Moses was
faithful as a servant IN his house, “Christ as a Son
OVER the house as a good Son. He overshadows the
whole house, in perfect control of all that
transpires in His house – “WHOSE HOUSE WE ARE.”
Then Peter comes along to confirm these truths, “YE
ALSO, as living stones, are built up a spiritual
house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual
sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.”
(1Pet. 2:5)
Living stones built up together, growing into an
holy temple. While this “spiritual house” is
scattered all over the earth, throughout the
nations, because it is THE SON’S house, He is over
it all, it is all joined unto Him. He ministers the
same divine principles to all. The responsibility
for all the house belongs to the Son. He will
perfect that which concerneth us, He will bring it
to a successful conclusion.
