JUNE 11
WITH OPEN FACE
“But we all, with open face
beholding as in a glass the
glory of the Lord, are
changed into the same image
from glory to glory, even as
by the Spirit of the Lord.”
(II Cor. 3:18)
When Moses came down from
mount Sinai with the two
tables of testimony in his
hand, the skin of his face
shone, insomuch that the
people were afraid to come
near him. So Moses put a
veil on his face for a time,
but whenever Moses went into
the tabernacle to commune
with God, he removed the
veil while in the presence
of God, “And the Lord spake
unto Moses face to face, as
a man speaketh unto his
friend.” (Ex. 33:11).
We desire that deep
communion with God, a
consciousness of His
presence, to share the
reality of the truth
reserved for this very day.
Therefore it is essential
that we be stripped of all
the veneer and masquerade of
this world’s system, that we
might present ourselves
before Him with open face.
When Moses came out of the
tabernacle, for the people’s
sake, he again put a veil
over his face, not only
because of the brightness of
the reflected glory, but “to
the end that the sons of
Israel should not fix their
gaze upon the termination of
that which is passing away.”
(II Cor. 3:13, Wuest). And
to this day people still do
not know that the glory has
waned, has faded away,
terminated, from the old
order and ministration. Not
until the veil is removed
from them, the scales from
their eyes, do they see how
dead much of the old order
has become. Empty forms,
religious ceremonies without
power and life. For the Word
indicates that the veil
which once was on the face
of Moses is now upon the
face of the people – a veil
of unbelief. Only the
inworking of the Spirit of
the Lord can remove the
veil, so that we come to
know Him, see him in a new
way, as He fills our vision
and consciousness.
When our face is unveiled,
all doubts and fears
removed, all worldly
consciousness removed, we
shall behold Him and be
changed, from glory to
glory, so that receiving
from Him, we shall be able
to reflect that glory to
others – with the image
becoming ever more clear,
the better the out-shining
of His nature to those
around us.
