PUT A DIFFERENCE
“And I will put a division
between My people and thy
people: tomorrow shall this
sign be. And the Lord did
so.” (Ex. 8:23-24)
This word “division,” the
Hebrew “peduth,” is used
elsewhere as redemption, and
while it includes the
thought of separation, it is
separation as the result of
redemption. “He sent
redemption unto His people.”
(Ps. 111:9). Let Israel hope
in the Lord: for with the
Lord there is mercy, and
with Him is plenteous
redemption.” (Ps. 130:7).
Eventually Israel did leave
Egypt, but first there was
an irrefutable witness
given, as God worked a
REDEMPTIVE – SEPARATION
between His own, and the
Egyptians. When this was
done, so that no more did
plagues come upon the
Israelites, all the land
bear witness that these
people belonged to Jehovah,
a different God than the
gods they served.
“That ye may know that the
Lord doth put a difference
between the Egyptians and
Israel.” (Ex. 11:7).
Put a difference –
literally, sever, set apart.
Right now it may be
difficult to distinguish
between the ”elect” and the
rest of the world. They all
share the same afflictions,
the shortages, the pressures
and tensions of this age.
But wait, just as surely as
the Word is true of Israel
of old, so it shall be
fulfilled again. God shall
put a difference, working a
redemptive separation,
setting apart unto Himself
His elect.
“For wherein shall it be
known here that I and Thy
people have found grace in
Thy sight? Is it not in that
Thou goest with us? So shall
we be separated, I and Thy
people, from all the people
that are on the face of the
earth.” (Ex. 33:15). People
will begin to see the signs,
and wonder. How come these
things don’t happen to you?
Why don’s you need
tranquilizers against the
mental pressures of the day?
It is because we have made
the Lord, even the Most High
our habitation. To dwell in
Him, covered with His hand,
“There shall no evil befall
thee, neither shall any
plague come nigh thy
dwelling” (Ps. 91:10). It is
truly a God-wrought
redemption!
