Daily Quickening
by Ray Prinzing
"But if the Spirit of
Him that raised up Jesus
from the dead dwell in
you, He that raised up
the Christ from the dead
shall also quicken your
mortal bodies by His
Spirit that dwelleth in
you."
(Romans 8:11)
Line upon line the
Spirit works into us of
His divine purpose and
plan, leading us through
the transition process,
which is accomplished
through much travail and
inworking of the cross.
It is an on-going
process, and is leading
form death into life,
His more abundant life.
"To be carnally
minded is death,"
(Romans 8:6) - that is
a state of death, where
we are given over to the
minding of the flesh,
fulfilling its lusts,
and reaping its end
result of physical death
as well. But having
received the Seed of His
life within, while the
outward man perisheth,
the inward man is being
renewed day by day,
growing, and gaining the
ascendancy in the
control of our mind, so
that we "mind the
things of the Spirit"
which yields life
and peace. While in
God's time-table we have
not yet come to that
hour when this mortal
shall put on
immortality," therefore
physical death still
reigns, yet even now
there can be an INNER
QUICKENING - by reason
of His indwelling Spirit
so even our dying
bodies" can be vivified,
strengthened, made
alive, to continue day
by day, while we wait
for the completeness of
our change.
If our change comes via
the way of the first
resurrection, then we
read, "these all died
in faith, not having
received the promises,
but having seen them
afar off, and were
persuaded of them, and
embraced them, and
confessed that they were
strangers and pilgrims
on the earth,"
(Hebrews 11:13). Until
such a time as we also
"fall asleep," we need
to conduct ourselves as
pilgrims and strangers,
our very living being
our confession that we
declare plainly that we
seek a county, desiring
a better, that is, an
heavenly. This very
expression is a witness
that he corruptible
things of this world do
not satisfy, and we
desire to be filled with
His fulness form above.
The climax of this
changing, quickening
within, is "that,
when He shall appear, we
shall be like Him; for
we shall see Him as He
is." (1 John 3:2).
Priase the Lord!
